This photo of Butch O`Hare was taken just after completing a flight. In this photo he looks much the same as he did the day that he returned to the Carrier Lexington after shooting down several enemy aircraft. That day in April `42, after he landed back aboard, he was met by a young assistant plane captain by the name of Buzzy Baur. Butch thought that he had shot down seven enemy planes and that is what he told Buzzy as he was being helped out of his F4F Wildcat. Later, unfortunately, Butch was credited with only five victories; however Buzzy had already spread the news of seven victories on the talker network.
